About Angela and Nutritional Therapy
What is Nutritional Therapy and how can it help you?
Nutritional therapy provides a foundational approach to health-- foundations rooted in nutrition, that when supported and strengthened, build a healthy, robust, vibrant body. But when there are weaknesses in the foundations, consequences arise. The only way to eliminate consequences is to address and support these foundations, and nutritional therapy achieves this by utilizing what nature provides to us.
We all have lifestyles that place demands on our bodies, and believe it or not, nutrition is one of the best tools we have to keep up with these demands and mitigate the stress that wears our bodies down. Nutritional Therapy is a powerful path to improved health and therefore, a better quality of life. Everyone can benefit from finding out what is going on in their bodies, making dietary changes, establishing a healthy relationship with food, and receiving one-on-one education, motivation, and support.
What I do as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner goes much deeper than telling you what to eat and what not to eat. Every body and lifestyle has different nutrient demands. Instead, I work to educate and empower you to make decisions about your diet and your health.
**I do not diagnose or treat disease, nor do I look to manage or cover up symptoms. Instead, I work to uncover underlying imbalances and/or deficiencies that may be leading to whatever ailment, disorder, or illness has manifested. I am trained to investigate dysfunction within the body, and provide the guidance and education necessary to re-balance, strengthen, and revitalize it.**
My goal is to encourage vibrant health and well-being from the roots up. I work with the understanding that health is built on certain biochemical foundations-- with a properly-prepared, nutrient-dense whole foods diet being the primary foundation. Weaknesses in any of these six foundations lead to the degenerative health issues that plague our modern society. Almost all disorders and diseases have their roots in these foundations. Therefore, when we support the foundations, we strengthen the body-- start at the roots to create strong, vibrant branches.
I use the following foundations as a guide to assess each client's unique weaknesses and imbalances, and therefore create a tailored plan to strengthen them in order to achieve optimal wellness:
· Digestion & elimination
· Blood sugar balance
· Mineral sufficiency & balance
· Fatty acid balance
Utilizing these following nutrition-based foundations as my guide, I thoroughly assess each client with the help of numerous tools including:
· Detailed health history interview
· In-depth nutritional assessment to analyze symptom burden
· Food journal analysis
· Hands-on functional evaluation: physical exam to discover nutrient imbalances/deficiencies and specific organ weaknesses
· Lingual-Neuro Testing (LNT): a biofeedback tool that uses the body's innate intelligence to determine which specific nutrient(s) can work to correct imbalances/deficiencies
Using all the information I gather, I help determine a diet right for you- one that respects your individuality. I work to create a personalized and realistic plan to address your unique needs and goals and fit your lifestyle. I always aim to provide the truth about food and nutrition as well as the support needed for you to make lasting changes and be successful in your pursuit of improved health. This holistic, functional approach is why nutritional therapy creates lasting change.
Everyone can benefit from nutritional therapy. There is always value in taking control of your health, becoming in-tune with your body, learning about nutrition, and receiving one-on-one motivation and support.
However, nutritional therapy can be especially beneficial if any of the following are a goal/concern:
· Digestive/GI issues such as IBS, bloating, & constipation
· Food or environmental/seasonal allergies
· Sugar cravings & blood sugar imbalances such as hypoglycemia & Type II diabetes
· Low energy, chronic fatigue, & adrenal dysfunction
· Thyroid conditions such as hypothyroidism & Hashimoto's
· Hormonal imbalances such as PCOS, PMS, & menopause complications
· Fertility and healthy conception, pregnancy, & postpartum
· Immune conditions (including autoimmune diseases)
· Inflammation and/or chronic pain
· Joint pain and/or degeneration (such as arthritis)
· Heart disease, hypertension, & high cholesterol
· Healthy, sustainable fat loss
· Improved athletic performance (muscle gain, improved strength, endurance, & recovery, etc.)
· Mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, panic attacks, ADHD, etc.
· Simply learning about nutrition, how your body uses food, and how to improve your health with your diet
· ... & much more
Regardless of your goal or health concern, I can help you customize your nutrition to fit your needs, lifestyle, and preferences. Every individual is unique, and no one plan works best for everyone. I will work with you to create a personalized plan to help you achieve your goals, one step at a time.
I promise to meet you where you are at. In fact, I leave it up to you how fast, or how slow you want to make changes. I will never ask you to do anything you don't want to do (but I do ask that you keep an open mind)! Trust me- I promise to always provide you with all the information you need to make decisions about your health. I also never will attempt to fix anything that is not within my scope of practice!
My name is Angela Reimer. My first journey was to become a dietitian. My passion has always been with cooking and helping people be healthy. I love the holistic side of health, so I found the Nutritional Therapy Association in my search. Their approach was very appealing to me and I love the basic principles they utilize.
Through acquiring my knowledge as an NTP, I have helped my husband's high blood sugar issue be under control. He has learned what certain foods trigger his blood sugar and how he feels when his blood sugar spikes. His appreciation of real food has helped him achieve better wellness. I can help you too with health issues and get you to appreciate real foods that work with your body.
I have also helped myself get rid of psorisis in my scalp, clearer skin, sleep better and better overall health.
I am also a RESTART instructor, which means I teach a 5 week class on digestion, fats, and blood sugar regulation. It's a part education, part sugar detox, and part support group for an empowering combination! Check out the RESTART page for more details!
